Here are some pictures of my favorite moments from the premiere. Daniel, Emma, Rupert, and J. K. Rowling gave very emotional speeches which brought all of them (and all of fandom) to tears. Rupert and Emma were just too cute during all of this!
You can see videos of these speeches here: http://phoenixweasley.wordpress.com/2011/07/07/harry-potter-and-the-deathly-hallows-world-premiere-in-london/.
“No story lives unless someone wants to listen. The stories we love best do live in us forever. So, whether you come back page by page or by the big screen,
Hogwarts will always be there to welcome you home.” -JK Rowling

Hey,
I’ve just seen the movie and it is BY FAR the most beautiful of the entire series. It was also the first time that it didn’t annoy me that it wasn’t entirely true to the book.
I won’t spoil any details off course but there are a fair few R/HR moments which gives the romance the attention it deserves. God Emma looks fantastic at times. Ron is really protective (not jealous) of his girl which is very sweet.
It was a bittersweet experience now that the story is truly over. There is nothing to look forward to anymore. No beautiful pics of the two (maybe the deleted scenes…..), no wondering how the book-scenes in our heads are shown in the movies.
It will also be my last post on the Harry Potter Forums. For me it’s truly the end of an era and it’s an era I will sorely miss. All the characters (and especially the great great romance between my favourite couple of all time) that Jo created will live on in my heart and I don’t think I’ll ever find a show, book or series that will be as important to me as Harry Potter.
Everybody enjoy this last masterpiece and I hope everyone will find their way in life. Luv to all of you 4ever!!!!
I thought their speeches were incredibly touching. If you watch the background as Jo spoke, it looked like Rupert was wiping tears as he adjusted his hair.
Just thinking of those words from J. K. Rowling gives me a lump in my throat.
I’ve got a houseful of teenagers getting ready tonight to do a 2-day 8-movie marathon at the local theater. It’s so beautiful to see how much this story and these characters mean to them. I can’t wait to experience the whole magnum opus.
TdlWve, I’m glad to hear that the movie is as good as we had hoped.
Thanks for your review of it, and if you have spoilers, feel free to post them in the comments here:http://phoenixweasley.wordpress.com/2011/06/18/deathly-hallows-part-2-movie-spoilers/#comment-1064.
Well if you don’t mind reading them, I don’t mind sharing them
The movie starts off in Shell cottage where they talk with Olivander and Griphook. Basically nothing special other than what you’ve read in the book.
The break in Gringotts is spectucar wher one of the goblins is roasted by the dragon. No stuff for little children. Everything inside the fault does multiply but doesn’t burn!
I think you have a lot of happy boys and men in the cinema because honestly, Emma looks fantastic soaked in her clothing.
They apparate to Aberforth but we won’t get to see anything about Grindelwald or how Ariana died.
When they get inside the castle Snape battles McGonagall for a few moments and flees. Harry starts looking for the diadem while Ron and Hermione go look for basilisk teeth inside the COS. At the same time, McGonagall, Flitwick and Molly mobilise the armors and put a protective enchantment over the entire castly (which in 3D looks absolutely spectucalar!!!).
Truth be told: the tsunami-voldemort is a bit of a disappointment. The water rises rapidly and covers them in water but at no point they are in any danger. They look at each other, both soaking wet and…. they kiss!!! It’s really sweet and short and not the ordinary snogging I was affraid off. Some people will be disappointend because of the camera position because you don’t really see their faces (let alone their mouths)!!!! 90% of the time it’s the back of Ron’s head…..
We won’t get to see the killing of Remus, Tops or Fred. It seems that the women are really affected when Voldemort speaks to the castle because you see them all stop and grap their heads. Also in the movie, both Voldemort and Harry (??) feel it when a horcrux is destroyed. It’s like they have a minor stroke.
The moments when Harry surrenders and on King’s Cross Station are all pretty true to the book. The same goes for the scene inside the room of requirement although Zabini is there with Malfoy and Crabbe instead of Goyle.
The actual battle between Voldemort and Harry is much much longer and more spectacular in the movie. The fight throughout the entire castly and it all ends in the courtyard.
Truly a fantastic movie and you won’t be disappointed!
Ron and Hermione moments:
- The kiss: sweet, short and they are a bit giggly afterwards. People inside the cinema actually started clapping and aplauding.
- When Crabbe fires the death curse on Harry and Hermione harry loses the diadem. In the mean time Ron runs after them yelling: that’s my girlfriend you (explicit). Hermione stands there and looks happy and proud that he is standing up for her. After the fire breaks out they run hand in hand the entire scene (hermione rides her own broom).
- They sit on the staircase holding hands after Fred’s death (she is comforting him, no lines there).
- While Harry battles Voldemort, Ron and Hermione battle Nagini. It doesn’t work as planned and they move backwards while Ron shoots a last curse that misses (the hand-holding scene in every trailer, remember?). Nagini launches itself at the pair when Neville jumps into the scene and slashes the Snake.
- After Voldemort is dead, Harry walks inside the great hall watching everybody, healing the wounded, mouring the dead. On the other end of the hall you see Ron and Hermione walking in. When Harry looks at them, Ron and Hermione both look at their entwined hands and both look kind of sheepishly at Harry who smiles (nice little moment).
- The scene 19 years after the battle is exactly as you might expect. They all really look like the same actors but not as ridiculous as I feared (with the exception of Malfoy because the entire cinema started laughing). I still think they should have left this scene out of the book and movie but that’s my opinion.
